Edited the unboxing video (see above). Enjoy!
Re-developed the CAD file using “parametric CAD”, which sounds fancy, but is really just using parameters instead of hard coding numbers. Everything is a parameter. Length, width, slot size, tab size, slot and tab location. I’m starting to envision how one could automate the design portion.
Sent off another round of prototyping pieces using different material (thicker MDF), fixing mistakes from last round, and testing out different length of tabs.
Found a maker space within 30 min of my house and joined their Discord. They have a Shapeoko CNC! It seems like an active community. They sent me a ton of resources to get started.
Enter the “learning curve” portion of CNC. I really want to study the Shapeoko and Carbide learning material so I can feel confident using a communal machine. I also want to do as much pre-work as possible so I can maximize my time in the space. So that’s next. Don’t worry, there will be no time-lapse videos of me watching YouTube videos.
